January 2026 was the celebration of 80 years of annual pantomime performances at Hutton Rudby Dramatic Society.
Our very first pantomime in 1946 was Aladdin, and so it felt very fitting to mark our 80th year by performing Aladdin again with an updated script. It’s a well-loved rags to riches tale of a young lad who lives with his mother and brother in a Chinese laundry. Aladdin falls in love with the daughter of the Emperor – a forbidden love and one punishable by execution. Enter an evil magician, a Spirit and a Genie and anything is possible – even flying carpets!
