An active theatre group has existed in the village since 1920. Initially performances took place in the original school house but since 1928, when the village hall was completed, there has been an uninterrupted program of productions, with the exception of the war years, until the present day. 2020 will see the centenary of amateur theatrical productions in the village.
We meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Hutton Rudby Village Hall where we have a well proportioned stage with modern sound, lighting and projection equipment, an extensive wardrobe department and on site facilities for scenery construction.
A typical year starts with the annual pantomime in January, a spring play, often a murder mystery play in the summer if time permits and either a childrens production or revue in the autumn.
We are always looking forward to welcoming new members and with such an active program there are plenty of opportunities to develop your particular interests whatever direction they might lie in.
